The Runaways


Synopsis: The film tells the story of the first female band 70s in rock history: The Runaways. Focusing on the two singer / guitarist Joan Jett (played by Kristen Stewart of Twilight) and vocalist / keyboardist Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning). Throughout the film finds trouble and will appear in the lives of these girls, that is, The Runaways.


Critical reception

The Runaways received generally favorable reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reported that 65% of 142 sampled critics gave the film positive reviews and that it got a rating average of 6.2 out of 10.At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the film received an average score of 65 based on 35 reviews.


The performances of Stewart, Fanning and Shannon were picked out as some of the film's strongest elements.Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle noted that the film "doesn't always tell the literal truth" about the band, but felt that "[m]ore crucially, it conveys precisely what it was like to be young in the mid-1970s [...] And in getting that one thing right—in capturing that strange combination of despair and frustrated energy—it gets everything right." Roger Ebert gave The Runaways 3 stars out of 4, praising the performances of Shannon, Stewart and Fanning, while writing that the film's visuals and music "[helped] cover an underwritten script and many questions about the characters" which he found slimly developed.

Synopsis:  Liz Gilbert had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having — a husband, a house, a successful career — yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.


The Italian press has received with disdain the latest film from Julia Roberts to Eat, Pray, Love, and mocked his vision of a romantic journey of self-discovery of an American woman.


IN THEATERS: VAMPIRES SUCK

Vampires Suck


Synopsis: In the plot, Becca is a non-vampire teenager torn between two boys. Before making your choice must deal with his father controller and romantic dilemmas of his friends. All these problems collide on the day of their graduation.


This movie is a parody of the Twilight series, the same producers of "The League of injustice," "Epic Movie", "Date Movie" and "Meet the Spartans."


For those who want a good laugh and is tired of Vampires, watch it. I've watched and recommend.

Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps


Synopsis: Emerging from a lengthy prison stint, the financial icon Gordon Gekko finds himself on the outside of a world he once dominated. He now has to play catch-up and redefine himself in a different era. Gekko has to become relevant again. But a young, idealistic investment banker, Jacob Moore, learns the hard way that Gekko is still a master manipulator – and if there’s one place where you can redefine yourself, one place where your relevance is a deal away, it’s Wall Street.


Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is a 2010 American drama film directed by Oliver Stone. It is a sequel to the 1987 film Wall Street, and the first sequel Stone has done to any of his films. Michael Douglas reprises his Academy Award-winning role of Gordon Gekko and Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, and Frank Langella also star in the film. Charlie Sheen reprises his role as Bud Fox in a brief cameo appearance.


Critical Reaction

The movie has received mixed reviews, with review tallying website Rotten Tomatoes reporting that the film holds an overall approval rating of 57%, based on a sample of 163 reviews. The site describes the critics' general consensus by saying "It's more entertaining than many sequels, but with Oliver Stone directing, a terrific cast, and a timely storyline that picks up where the original left off, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps should be better." For comparison, the first film received 79% positive reviews. Joe Neumaier of the New York Daily News publication awarded the film five out of five stars saying that Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is a sharp sequel that is worthy of its investment. He also saluted the cast's performance and noted that Douglas gives Gekko "uncounted layers as he fakes, deals and fuels fire".


Seven years later, Jacob "Jake" Moore (Shia LaBeouf) is awakened in his apartment by his girlfriend, Winnie (Carey Mulligan). Jake turns on the television, and there is an interview with Gekko on television. Gekko has become an author and a lecturer promoting his new book, "Is Greed Good?" Winnie gets upset and throws the remote at the TV after Jake does not turn it off. Winnie is Gekko’s estranged daughter and wants nothing to do with him. Jake drives Winnie to the airport on his motorbike, and she goes off to gather investors for her online political magazine.

IN THEATERS: THE LAST EXORCISM

The Last Exorcism



Synopsis: The Reverend Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with his wife and son. Marcus is accustomed to performing exorcisms on "possessed" individuals, but his faith has waned after reading of an autistic child being killed during an exorcism, reminding him of his own disabled son. He comes to realize that he attributes the healing of his son to science, and not to Jesus Christ. He agrees to take part in a documentary designed to expose exorcism as a fraud, working with a film crew consisting of producer/director Iris Reisen (Iris Bahr) and cameraman Dave Moskowitz (Adam Grimes). At random, he chooses a plea letter from an individual seeking an exorcism leading him to the farmhouse of Louis Sweetzer (Louis Herthum), a man who claims to have a possessed daughter named Nell (Ashley Bell). Prior to the exorcism, Marcus plants hidden speakers and electronic props so he can bamboozle the family into believing he is driving out a demon. After the ritual, Marcus and his film crew leave believing they have cured her of a mental state that was misdiagnosed as a possession by a powerful demon Abalam.

Critical Reception

        The Last Exorcism has received generally positive reviews from critics, garnering a 72% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with the site's consensus being "It doesn't fully deliver on the chilly promise of its Blair Witch-style premise, but The Last Exorcism offers a surprising number of clever thrills." The film received a 63 out of 100 on Metacritic, indicating "generally favorable reviews". At Yahoo! Movies the film currently holds a B- based on twelve reviews .

Personally I don’t liked the movie. I watched it and thought I would fear most, but not really. The Rev. Marcus goes for an exorcist in verade not. He just steals money from people "exoscisando them."


SOON: LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA’HOOLE

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole


Synopsis: Legend of the Guardians follows Soren, a young owl fascinated by the epic stories told by his father about the Guardians of GaHoole, a bunch of mythical winged warriors who fought a great battle to save all owls from Pure evil. 
While Soren dreams of someday joining the heroes, his older brother, Kludd, scoffs at the idea, and prefer to hunt, fly and take the predilection of his father's younger brother. But envy of Kludd have terrible consequences - causing both to fall owl from his home on top of the tree straight into the clutches of the Pure. Now it depends on Soren make a daring escape with the help of other young owls. Together they fly across the ocean and the fog to find the Great Tree, home of the legendary Guardians GaHoole - Soren's only hope to defeat the Pure and save the kingdoms of the owls.


Critical Reaction

The movie received mixed reviews. Rotten Tomatoes reported that 49% of 78 sampled critics gave the film positive reviews and that it got a rating average of 5.6 out of 10. It reported the critics' consensus, "Legend of the Guardians' dark tone and dazzling visuals are to be admired, even if they're ultimately let down by a story that never lives up to its full potential."

 October 08 in theaters.

SOON: TROPA DE ELITE

Synopsis: The events of Elite Squad 2 will take place thirteen years after the first film. One of its focuses will be the maturity of the then Colonel Nascimento, who have to deal with problems with her teenage son, with the interpreter Nascimento, Wagner Moura, saying, "The Birth undergoes a process of maturation that has to do with concept of consciousness and at his age". The film also shows the growth of BOPE and conflict between militias and police in Rio de Janeiro. Director Jose Padilha said that "the film deals with the relationship between security and public campaign financing. Makes link between security and politics". In addition, a rebellion will be held in jail in Bangor 1, led by Beirada, Seu Jorge character.


The film is slated for 08 October.
The film stars Wagner Moura.

Synopsis: In "The Swuith”, Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) is a mature and successful woman who always dreamed of being a mother, but unfortunately the man has not crossed his path. Life goes on until she finally decides to do an independent production. His best friend, Wally (Jason Bateman), is extremely neurotic and does not agree with the choice of Kassie, but to like it too chooses not to disrupt their plans.  But not everything happens as planned this pregnancy and the surprises are just beginning to appear.

Synopsis: Upon awakening in the Spirit World, Andre Luiz faces grim and frightening creatures living together with him in this dark and gloomy. Moreover, it also scares to realize that despite having "died" he is still alive and still feel hunger, thirst, cold and other sensations materials. After a long period of suffering it is collected from this area suffering and purgation of past failures by good spirits and is taken to the Colony Our Spiritual Home, where comes the name of the movie. From that moment he gets to know the life beyond the grave and to learn lessons and gain knowledge that will completely change your way of seeing life.
Having thus become aware that it is disembodied (dead), he feels immense desire to return to Earth to visit and review close relatives of those who have a deep ache. However, as recounted in the synopsis of the film's official site, this happens only for him to realize "the great truth - life goes on for everyone."


It is a feature film based on the homonymous work by Brazilian written by André Luiz and medium psychographed by Chico Xavier.
It reached an audience of 1.6 million viewers in 10 days of display.
Detailed drawings and detailed city map of "Our Home" as well as the architecture of buildings, ministries and homes, were created by the medium Heigorina Cunha through their observations made during his travels outside of the body (split) in March 1979, led and guided Lucius spirit.
His drawings have been clarified and confirmed by Chico Xavier that this was really the city's "Our Home" and later served as inspiration to create the visual architecture of the city you see the movie. 


GROWN UPS

Grown Ups


Synopsis: Thirty years after graduation from college, five friends (Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider) are reunited to spend a weekend together. With their women (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello and Maya Rudolph) and children, they celebrate the holiday of July 4 in a house on the lake to celebrate the years of youth and remember the good times.


All have worked with Sandler on films before, but this is the first five movies that work together. Adam Sandler and Fred Wolf wrote the screenplay and direction is by Dennis Dugan. The film is produced by Sandler's production company Happy Madison.


Critical reception

            The film has received negative reviews. Review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes reports that 10% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 148 reviews, with an average score of 3.3/10, and its consensus states that "Grown Ups' cast of comedy vets is amiable, but they're let down by flat direction and the scattershot, lowbrow humor of a stunted script." Metacritic awarded the film an average score of 30 out of 100 based on 32 reviews, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews".

Resident Evil 4: Afterlife


Synopsis: In a world ravaged by a viral infection, in which victims become undead, Alice continues his journey in search of survivors, taking them to safety. His deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A track promises a safe place for survivors and they go to Los Angeles, but when they get there they discover that the city is overrun by zombies and Alice and their allies are about to fall into a trap.


Critical reception

            Resident Evil 4 has garnered critical acclaim, averaging a score of 96 on Metacritic. It has received dozens of awards from various organizations and stellar reviews from various video game websites.The game was considered by critics as a top contender for 2005's Game of the Year, and was seen as a successful crossover hit; the new gameplay alterations and immersive style appealed to many not previously familiar with the Resident Evil series. Nintendo Power named it their 2005 Game of the Year, ranked it number 1 on their list of the "Top 20 Best GameCube Games of All Time" in their 20th anniversary issue and ranked it second on their list of the best games of the 2000s. Resident Evil 4 was ranked number 1 on IGN's Top 99 Games of All Time list. The Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine named it the Game of the Year for the PlayStation 2. Game Informer gave both editions of Resident Evil 4 a perfect score, and along ranking number one on their list of "Best GameCube Games of All Time" they named it their 2005 Game of the Year. It tied with Kingdom Hearts II as Famitsu's Game of the Year 2005. Subsequently, Resident Evil 4 was named "Game of the Year" at the 2005 Spike TV Video Game Awards. Also, the G4 TV show X-Play named it the greatest game since the begining of the series in April 2003.


Resident Evil4: Afterlife, has the main character Milla Jovovich like Alice Clone, Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, Wentworth Miller as Chris Redfield (Claire's older brother), Kim Coates as Bennett, Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker, Sergio Peris-Mencheta as Angel Ortiz, Spencer Locke as K-Mart, Boris Kodjoe as Luther West.


CATS & DOGS 2: THE REVENGE OF KITTY GALORE

Cats & Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

Synopsis: An evil cat conspired to unleash a virus that would make humanity allergic to dogs in “Cats & Dogs” (2001). In “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” another evil cat conspires to broadcast an audio file via satellite to radios, TVs and cell phones that will drive all dogs mad so mankind will put down this “man’s best friend” business. “I will enslave mankind,” cackles the hairless, pointy-fanged Kitty Galore (voiced by Bette Midler).

Critical reception

The film received mixed to average reviews from film critics. It received a 53% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes, based upon 111 reviews, with an average rating of 5.5 out of 10. Metacritic, which uses an aggregate rating system, collected an average score of 47/100, based upon 26 reviews. The Washington Post's Jane Horwitz gave the film a positive review, calling it " surprisingly witty and sophisticated spy movie spoof that will tickle adult pet lovers and still capture kids 6 and older with its boy-and-his-dog love story and pet slapstick." In contrast, Kevin Turan of the Los Angeles Times wrote "Irritating, childish and more frantic than funny, Cats & Dogs does manage some few pleasant moments, but they are not worth waiting for." However, Ebert & Roeper gave "two thumbs up".

THE KARATE KID

Synopsis: Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) goes with his mother to China against their wishes so she can work. He does not know the language and have difficulties to relate to the children there.
The young suffer psychological and verbal abuse that does not take time to get to physical aggression. He then knows Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who offers to teach Mandarin and martial arts.


Remake of Karate Kid, overwhelming success of the 1980s.

            The Karate Kid has received generally positive reviews. Review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a score of 69% based on 163 reviews, with an average score of 6.4/10. Rotten Tomatoes has said that "It may not be as powerful as the 1984 edition, but the 2010 Karate Kid delivers a surprisingly satisfying update on the original."  Metacritic, another review aggregator, assigned the film a weighted average score of 61 based on 37 reviews from mainstream critics.

DESPICABLE ME

Despicable me


Synopsis: In a lively neighborhood in the suburbs, surrounded by fences with white roses in bloom, there is a black box with a dry lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden in the basement of this house, there is a big secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, find Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest theft in history worldwide. He'll steal the moon. With 3D display.


The film shows the life of a supervillain called Gru, who enlists the help of his little helpers aliens. One day he receives the visit of three orphaned girls. From there, he tries to become a good father and discover the love within him. Animation by Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment. Very good, worth watching.


CRITICAL RESPONSE

The film has received generally positive. Review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes reports that 80% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 155 reviews, with an average score of 6.9/10. The critical consensus is: Borrowing heavily (and intelligently) from Pixar and Looney Tunes, Despicable Me is a surprisingly thoughtful, family-friendly treat with a few surprises of its own. Among "Top Critics," comprising critics from the top newspapers and other publications, the film holds an approval rating of 87% based on 32 reviews. Metacritic, another review aggregation website, assigned the film a score of 72%, based on 34 reviews from mainstream critics.

THE BEST THINGS IN THE WORLD

The best things in the world.


Synospsi: The Best Things in the World is a Brazilian film, participation Mariana Leiva, Gabriela Stlockler, Egar Crispino and Ruda Tedesco, directed by Lais Bodansky and written by Luiz Bolognesi, produced by Gullane and distributed by Warner Bros. It was inspired by the book series "Mano", written by Gilberto Dimenstein and Heloisa Prieto. The premiere of the film occurred on April 16, 2010.


The film revolves around Mumble, a 15 year old boy who loves to play guitar, kissing on the mouth, laughing with friends, ride a bike, enjoy a night out, finally, a normal boy, who was already a teenager one day will identify with some passages of the film...

SALT


Synopsis: The film begins with CIA agent Evelyn Salt being released from a North Korean prison, thanks to the help of Mike, a German arachnologist, who is a highly public figure. This is noted as against the CIA's wishes, who considered her expendable. Salt marries Mike after this ordeal.


The film cuts to Salt who, along with fellow agents Winter and Peabody, interrogates a Russian defector, Orlov, who tells her about "Day X", an operation organized by a powerful Russian spymaster during the Cold War, which will bring about the destruction of the United States. Orlov claims that for this purpose, during the 1970s an elite group of Soviet agents were trained from birth in such a rigorous way that their psychological conditioning makes them "unbreakable". He mentions that at the funeral of the recently deceased US Vice President in New York City, the visiting Russian President will be killed by Russian spy Evelyn Salt, whose real name is Chenkov.


“KA-12 KA-12 program... is a myth.” — Ev said.
This film is full of action and suspense at every second and you will glaze from beginning to end. The film was released on July 23, 2010 and had great critics.

The film received from generally mixed to positive reviews. Review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes reports that 61% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 209 reviews, with an rating average of 6 out of 10.  Among Rotten Tomatoes' "Top Critics", which consists of popular and notable critics from the top newspapers, websites, television and radio programs,the film holds an overall approval rating of 58%, based on a sample of 36 reviews. Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average  score out of 100 reviews from film critics, has a rating score of 65% based on 42 reviews, indicating generally favorable reviews.
